Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers to the questions people ask most before booking a sailing week in Croatia. Where the answer depends on your route, departure or yacht, it points to the page with the details.
How to use this page
The answers below are general. The details that apply to your trip, such as the marina, inclusions and the yacht, are set out in your written quote and booking confirmation. If anything here differs from your booking terms, the terms apply.

All questions
Do I need sailing experience?
No. A skipper sails the yacht, so you can join in or simply relax. You will need to follow the skipper's safety instructions and be comfortable with life in a small space at sea. See your first sailing trip.
What is included in the price?
It depends on the departure and the booking option. Your written quote lists what is included and what is not, and our dates and prices page explains the usual extras.
How much does a sailing week cost?
The price depends on the dates, the yacht and whether you book a cabin or the whole yacht. July and August cost the most. Send an enquiry with your dates and group size and we will reply with a written quote. Our guide to the cost of a sailing holiday in Croatia explains the extras to budget for.
Where does the trip start and finish?
That depends on the route. Tell us where you would like to start in your enquiry, and we will confirm the marina and check-in time in writing before you book.
Can I book a cabin or the whole yacht?
You can ask for either: a cabin on a shared yacht, or the whole yacht for your group. Choose your preference in the enquiry form and we will tell you what is available for your dates.
Can I travel alone?
Yes, you can enquire as a solo traveller. Say so in the enquiry form and we will explain the cabin options for your dates.
What happens if the weather changes?
Your skipper may change the order of stops or the route for weather, sea conditions, local restrictions or safety. Read weather and route changes.
Will I get seasick?
Summer conditions in the sheltered channels between the Dalmatian islands are often calm, but anyone can feel queasy on a rougher day. Ask a pharmacist or doctor about remedies before you travel, and read our seasickness guide.
What should I pack?
Bring a soft, foldable bag, light clothes, a warm layer for evenings, sun protection, swimwear and shoes with non-slip soles. Our packing guide has a full list.
Is there Wi-Fi and power on board?
Phone signal is good along most of the coast, and many yachts can charge phones by USB at sea. Water and mains power are limited away from marinas. See water, power and Wi-Fi on a yacht.
When is the sailing season?
The main season runs from late spring to early autumn. July and August are the warmest and busiest months, while June and September are often the best balance of warm sea and quieter harbours. See the best time to sail in Croatia.
Do I need a passport or visa?
That depends on your nationality. Croatia is in the EU and the Schengen area, so check the official rules for your passport well before you travel. See entry requirements for Croatia.
What extra costs should I expect?
Depending on what is included, budget for travel to the marina, meals ashore, drinks, tourist tax, park entry and transfers. The dates and prices page lists them.
